The TJC Interfaith Refugee Resettlement Committee is a community-wide effort to resettle refugees in Princeton. Since 2015, our Committee has resettled four families (two from Pakistan, one from Afghanistan and one from Syria). We’ve also assisted families from Cameroon, Eritrea, Tibet, El Salvador, St. John and Turkey. These families need rides and help settling into our community. We find and furnish apartments and are always looking for affordable housing to bring additional refugee families to Princeton. Groceries, ESL tutoring, and mentoring are provided, as needed. And of course, these families need jobs and, at times, cash assistance for such things as tuition or clothing. Our committee will resume monthly meetings after the pandemic. We’re part of a central New Jersey interfaith coalition based in Highland Park: Interfaith-RISE. I-RISE is an affiliate agency of the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.
